Following the introduction of POCA 2002, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) took up the operation and conduct of POCA 2002, much like the NSW Crime Commission has conducted CARA and its precursor, the Drug Trafficking (Civil Proceedings) Act 1985.

The conduct of POCA by the AFP is now well entrenched Australia wide, however each State has its own proceeds of crime branch and invariably as you look towards the statutory construction of POCA you will find differences, albeit subtle, between each state.
